Position Title: Assistant Machine Operator
Shift: 3rd Shift
Location: Wapak Corrugator, 402 Leon Pratt Dr., Wapakoneta, OH 45895

As an Assistant Machine Operator, you will support machine operators in all aspects of the press operation, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities- Set up slotting, feed, and die-cut sections on the machine according to proper setup techniques.
- Assist the operator with other duties as needed.
- Monitor board quality (e.g., loose liner, warp, dimensions, caliper, etc.) and report any quality issues to the operator. Sort as necessary to maintain machine productivity.
- Work at the pace set by the machine operator.
- Cross-train on other machines as necessary.
- Be open to moving up the line of progression to operator, regardless of shift.
- Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Submit maintenance work orders to supervisors for needed repairs. Be proactive about equipment maintenance.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and maintaining good housekeeping.
- Assist operators in adhering to the production schedule. Recommend adjustments to optimize the schedule and meet cost, quality, and service goals. Report any scheduling issues to the Supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Prior experience in the corrugated industry.
- 6 months’ experience as a Flexo or DieCut Helper.
- 6 months’ experience in the Press and Finishing Departments.
- Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
- Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Able to calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates.
- Knowledge of high school-level math concepts.
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions (written, oral, or graphic).
- Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, ensuring efficient operation.
- Familiarity with product layouts and production specifications.
- Understanding of product quality specifications and standards.
- May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
