Part Time Human Resources Assistant

Pratt Industries is currently seeking a Part-time Human Resources Assistant to help with the HR needs in our Grand Rapids, MI facility. The Position will report to the Divisional HR Manager. Position will require minimal travel for HR meetings on occasion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist HR Managers and Divisional HR Manager with record retention of all employee personnel files, medical files, and I-9 forms for every plant location for multi-state employer in this Division.
  • Assist with tracking all employee leave of absences, FMLA, ADA, Workcomp and ensuring the record retention is maintained
  • Maintain and update personnel files, medical files, and I-9 forms. Most important function of this position is document retention/record keeping.
  • Initiate workorders to IT department to set up new hire employees’ email address and workorder to order laptops and company related property to do their job duties.
  • Initiate workorders to IT department to remove terminated employees email addresses and work with former employee to return Company property and return to IT. Tracking of the Company property to ensure all items are returned promptly and access to systems shut off.
  • Compute, post, and maintain reports related to employee leave and absentees to help track employees on leave of absence
  • Assist with job fairs, recruiting, tracking attendance, filing and any HR related function or duty
  • Assist with approving invoices for background screens and ensuring the invoices are submitted to accounting for payment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating employee engagement events
  • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast pace environment and be very organized
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

- One to Five years’ experience as a HR assistant or just recently worked towards a degree that is relevant.

- Manufacturing experience preferred

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Computer literate (proficient in MS Word, MS Excel).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to read and write English. Bi-lingual English & Spanish preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel)

Preferred Candidates with experience with ADP but, this can be trained

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear, sit and stand. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to on the manufacturing floor wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be, at times, loud.
