Position Summary:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for safety reporting, training and communications at various locations in the Division.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the proper training, monitoring, and record keeping of all employees at assigned locations (Permanent & Temporary) on all aspects of safety as required by the Plant Manager and the Recycling Division Safety Manager.
  • Ensuring all on-site personnel, including contractors and visitors, are in full compliance with the safety policies and safe work procedures as required by Pratt’s standard operating procedures and report back to the Division Safety Manager, any exceptions.
  • Maintain at the home base plant; Safety Inspections, Evaluations, and Training as required.
  • Inspecting all facility equipment, work areas, fire suppression equipment and egress areas for compliance on a scheduled basis.
  • Monitoring all areas of facility housekeeping as it relates to safety on a scheduled basis at designated locations.
  • It is Pratt’s policy to work in a safe manner. All employees must ensure guards are in place, follow lock-out procedures and ensure zero-energy-state, observe all hazards such as nip points, and follow plant and department safety rules.
  • Assist with the weekly and monthly safety reports for the Division insuring they are accurate and completed on time.
  • Coordinate and work with Safety Manager on safety policies and procedures.
  • Other Safety related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Hiring Requirements/Preferences:

  • 3-5 Years of Production, Safety and or Operational Experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or pursuing industrial hygiene degree or five (5) years of safety.
  • Knowledge of lean operational processes and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to monitor machines, equipment and processes.
  • Perform fast walk-around of work area, continuously.
  • Interpret information provided and devise troubleshooting steps to repair equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Work is medium difficulty but at times be fast paced. Individual must be able to move quickly with their feet, be cognizant of their surroundings and potential hazards, be able to lift 50+ pounds (not repetitively), climb stairs, climb ladders, tolerate a hot (100 degrees or above) and cold (32 degrees or below) environment.
  • Professional Attitude & conduct
  • Multi-task, interpersonal communication, problem solving, and time management skills are needed.
  • High degree of safety awareness and safety discipline.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Willing to travel and work away from home when and if required.
  • Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and the policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by PRATT Safety and OSHA.
  • Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
  • You will be expected to be flexible to the needs of our business, as we continually strive to meet and exceed the needs of our customers.
  • Pre-employment, Random and Suspicion Drug tests are performed.
