Job Description

Overview:

The waste champion is responsible for managing the full waste stream of material on a daily basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Daily waste entry
  • Lead process improvements using Lean methodologies
  • Promote and facilitate a culture of high engagement
  • Manage projects to critical timelines and cost in order to meet critical to corporate objectives
  • Identify gaps in waste reporting and collection processes and close the gaps
  • Perform Raw and WIP Cycle Counts
  • Count inventories, report needed adjustments, and determine why counts are off
  • Report waste data to plant management team
  • Work with quality and production leaders to review Root Cause Analysis of waste issues
  • Drive actionable items out of the team to the production floor
  • Develop process improvement plan to reduce waste stream
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures of the Company
  • Clerical duties as needed throughout the site, additional duties may be assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing environments (corrugated industry preferred)
  • Strong data analysis and reporting acumen
  • Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • The ability to lead and inspire change
  • ERP and waste tracking tool knowledge or Lean/Six Sigma Certification (preferred)

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Related college degree and/or appropriate technical courses or Associate’s (A.A.) degree is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in related field
  • Corrugated experience is preferred

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:

  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit)
