Description
The Store Room Clerk is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy and organization within the maintenance storeroom. This position supports mill operations through the receiving, stocking, issuing, tracking, auditing, and replenishment of spare parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance materials. The Store Room Clerk ensures that maintenance and operational personnel have timely access to required materials while maintaining accurate inventory records and housekeeping standards.
SCOPE
The Store Room Clerk serves as the primary custodian of the storeroom inventory and physical inventory processes. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to safely operate material handling equipment in a demanding 24-hour manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Load and unload maintenance materials, supplies, and equipment deliveries.
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for quantity, condition, and accuracy.
- Verify packing slips and notify Purchasing of discrepancies.
- Stock incoming inventory within assigned storage locations.
- Maintain inventory labeling and identification standards.
- Create and maintain inventory locations.
- Conduct scheduled cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Participate in annual physical inventory activities.
- Support inventory reconciliation efforts.
- Monitor inventory status and communicate replenishment requirements.
- Maintain inventory accuracy for all stocked materials.
- Create new inventory records, locations, and min/max information as directed.
- Review work order parts transactions for accuracy.
- Audit parts usage and inventory transactions.
- Issue materials and spare parts to maintenance personnel.
- Assemble and stage maintenance parts kits.
- Coordinate rental equipment staging and tracking.
- Operate forklifts and other approved material handling equipment.
- Perform material pickups and delivery errands as required.
- Audit vendor managed inventory materials.
- Return misplaced materials to appropriate inventory locations.
- Support purchasing personnel with alternate quote research as requested.
- Support inventory reporting and spend analysis projects.
- Maintain housekeeping throughout storeroom and material storage areas.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives regarding inventory management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree, technical training, military service, or vocational education preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in an industrial manufacturing, construction, warehouse, maintenance, or related environment preferred.
- Previous forklift operating experience required.
- Inventory control or storeroom experience preferred.
Note: This role requires the ability to work in a loud industrial environment, stand/walk for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
