Position Title: Lead Driver
Department: Transportation and Logistics
Reports to: Route Supervisor
Job Summary:
Lead Drivers substitute for the drivers of open routes, supporting drivers to complete routes, and provides other operational support as
directed which will include training new drivers, retaining, and follow up training of current drivers. Mentors new drivers. Mentors new drivers,
participates in routing projects and their developmental programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides On-the-Job training of new drivers and retrains drivers who have been re-assigned to new routes, line of business or
drivers who have driving performance issues.
Observes and coaches new drivers to ensure proper and consistent safety and performance duties are achieved.
Operates vehicle in accordance with, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation)
requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle
Inspection Report).
Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues.
Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings are required.
Works to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
Notifies of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Notifies Dispatch or service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards.
Communicates customer requests to Dispatch.
Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement.
Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
Maintains training documentation and records of all driver’s training.
Mentors new drivers to help in the acclamation to District and the Driver role.
Performs all duties as scheduled by assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Monitor and maintain schedule of truck services and repairs.
Follow all company policies per Employee Handbook & Code of Conduct.
Follow all company safety guidelines.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Requirements/Preferences
• Must have at least five (5) years of Swing Driver experience
• Ability to coordinate with teams while needing little supervision or direction
•Professional Attitude & conduct
•Multi-task, interpersonal communication, problem solving, and time management skills are needed.
•High degree of safety awareness and safety discipline. Strictly adhere to safety requirements and the policies and procedures as outlined in
the Employee Handbook.
•Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
•Willing to travel and work away from home when and if required.
•Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
•Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
•Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by PRATT Safety and OSHA.
•Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
•You will be expected to be flexible to the needs of our business, as we continually strive to meet and exceed the needs of our customers.
•Random and Suspicion Drug tests are performed
