Safety Coordinator

Pratt Industries, the 5th largest corrugated packing company in the U.S. and largest privately held producer of recycled containerboard in the world, is searching for a talented Safety Coordinator who will be responsible for assisting the Safety Manager in all duties related to the successful oversight of company and regulatory safety programs and initiatives. The position is sited at the recently expanded Millugator (Corrugating Division) facility: a 1-million square foot “mega plant” on Pratt’s Conyers, GA campus. Safety Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Safety Manager in education and training initiatives
  • Assist the Safety Manager in physical and electronic recordkeeping of training records
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits and prepare observation reports for management
  • Investigate incidents and assist crew members will root cause/corrective action
  • Assist Safety Manager in conducting new-hire safety orientations
  • Ensure facility compliance with regulatory agencies: OSHA 1910, EPA, GA EPD
  • Maintain documentation of OSHA programs
  • Act as liaison between plant and vendors/contractors for safety-related services
  • Maintain up to date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous chemicals
  • Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
  • Engage and establish rapport with team members on the plant floor
  • Monitor employees to ensure all safety expectations are being met – hold them accountable for complying with Pratt and OSHA safety rules and regulations
  • Assess safe function of tools and equipment
  • Assist the Safety Manager with preparing PPE Hazard Assessments, Job Safety Analysis, and authoring/revision of safety procedures
  • Be available in person or by phone where applicable for all incidents
  • Additional duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in a safety-related role is a strong plus
  • OSHA 10/30 hour certification
  • Bachelor’s degree

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong business acumen
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
