Description
The Income Tax Manager role is located in Atlanta, GA, reporting to the VP of Tax, and will manage all aspects of income taxation, including federal and state income tax compliance and reporting while focusing on continuous process improvements. The Income Tax Manager works with the VP of Tax in the development of tax planning initiatives and the identification of potential tax issues and recommends solutions to ensure key tax objectives are met and are appropriately aligned with operational concerns. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage U.S. tax working closely with outside tax advisors and service providers. This includes the preparation of supporting federal and state compliance workpapers, calculating quarterly estimates and processing payments, preparing apportionment workpapers, and the maintenance of tax attributes.
- Support the preparation of the Company's annual ASC 740 tax provision and related footnote disclosures including the annual effective tax rate, income tax payable reconciliation, and state tax provisions.
- Design and maintain working papers and support necessary for tax compliance and reporting.
- Develop, document and maintain income tax related standard operating procedures.
- Actively partner with business teams and support Company initiatives and ensure that tax risks are identified, considered and communicated.
- Provide technical assistance with regard to proper practice and procedure and assist in defending the Company’s tax positions during state and local audits and in responding to state and local notices. Maintain state and local audit and notice logs.
- Review the Company’s income tax compliance to identify opportunities for tax minimization, process efficiencies, and reduction of costs related to income tax compliance.
- Monitor and analyze tax legislative changes and their impact on the Company.
- Support and partner with the VP of Tax to successfully defend filing positions and to negotiate favorable resolutions of proposed deficiencies.
- Assist with other special projects as requested by the VP of Tax.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in domestic tax compliance and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations as well as ASC740
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with automation tools is a plus. (PowerBI, Alytrex, etc)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly.
